"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." II Corinthians 3:17

ISSUES

Jobs: The thing that Congress has forgotten is how to create jobs. Every year, more and more factories close down and move to China. America needs to start making things for itself again and not keep buying everything from China and Mexico. Not only is this bad for jobs, it is also bad for the economy because of the trade deficit and national debt. The trade deficit and the national debt are caused by not enough things being "Made in America" anymore. Congress can create more jobs by staying out of the way of free-enterprise and making sure that countries like China and Mexico play fair.

Economy: The American economy is worse after the bailouts and we are still in danger of yet another financial collapse. It is hard to believe that politicians like Bob Corker are trying to pretend that things are getting better and better while the foundational problems get worse and worse. After the financial collapse, Congress and Bailout Bob Corker tried to play money games to fix the economy. But money games do not make a strong economy which means that Bob Corker gave away billions of dollars for practically nothing. To fix the real problem, America needs to use manufacturing, trade, and agricultural policy reforms in conjunction with finance -- all four together, which Bob Corker never understood. America used to have a strong emphasis on agriculture and manufacturing but has gone away from that history. We need to bring America back to emphasizing strong manufacturing and agricultural job opportunities for Americans who want those types of jobs.

Personal Privacy: Mark Clayton is very concerned about people's personal privacy. New technology is coming out every day which could and is sometimes easily used to violate the personal privacy of Americans without their knowledge or consent. Just because today's technology provides drones and cameras everywhere does not mean that the government has the right to use all of these tools to snoop around looking into everyone's business. The Fourth Amendment guarantees the right of Americans to be secure in their houses, papers, and effects. "Effects" means everything else, so the government does not have a right to snoop around on people just because there is more technology. During the past decade, Congress has made a bad habit out of passing snoopy types of bills and forgetting the Fourth Amendment protections. Mark Clayton will not be "scared off" and will vote against snoopy bills.

Foreign Policy: Republicans used to like being in charge of American foreign policy. Everybody used to think that they knew more about it. This is no longer the case. Republicans are responsible for the major foreign policy blunders of the past decade and a half such as mismanaging Iraq and nearly getting us into a new Cold War with Russia that nobody needs. Some Republicans still want a new Cold War, but Hillary Clinton has stepped forward to take the lead and hold them back from starting more wars. America needs to engage other countries to make allies and not use indiscriminate force against populations in conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Phillipines. Some of Mark's friends have done a lot to help average people in other countries in a way that cuts them off from the terrorists. America used to have a strong missionary attitude which we are starting to forget. We need to get back to our first principles and remember how we treat average bystanders who happen to live near conflict zones the way we would want to be treated, otherwise the terrorists will win. The Republicans failed in this regard, and we cannot let that happen anymore.

The Bailout Problem: The bank bailouts were not fair, and America should not have more financial bailouts. The financial bailout in 2008 was a bad idea simply for the fact that Congress should have already known that there was going to be a collapse. Congress did not know because they did not study the American system of economics from the history books. Congress needs to get back to the original economic lessons we learn from George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, and Andrew Jackson. If Congress would just listen to America's founders we would not have needed a bank bailout in the first place.

Pro-Family/Pro-Liberty Mark Clayton has been pro-life his entire life because of the Bible. Life is at the core of liberty and freedom, and a culture of despair and death is at odds with the ideas of a truly free society. While America is divided on some very sensitive heart issues, it is important to make a decision and stay the course for what is right -- that every child deserves to be born and choose for his or her own life what he or she wants to do. Also, parents should be able to choose how their children are taught on sensitive issues and at what age, and the government should not choose for them. We should also keep the Defense of Marriage Act to protect traditional marriage.

Medicare and Social Security: A lot of politicians are afaid to say what needs to be said about Medicare and Social Security. Mark Clayton is not afraid and will protect America's seniors as the number one priority. The Republicans always talk about wanting to "privatize" Social Security and Medicare, but the FACT is that they will steal it. If the Republicans get to put Social Security in the stock-market, then the stock market will go down one day, and a few traders will run off with all the money, just like what happened in 2008. If the Republicans get a hold on Medicare, they will "privatize" everything in an experiment which will cause hundreds of thousands of seniors to pay more for Medicare. All Americans benefit from having a strong Medicare and Social Security being protected by the government from Republican raiders who will "privatize" and steal everything. Medicare and Social Security help maintain social stability and are good for the economy. Mark Clayton will not let the Republicans steal Social Security and ruin Medicare, and we will not "back down."

Religious Freedom: One thing that Mark learned at an early age is that the government does not even have the right to "tolerate" freedom of religion, because people are free to self-govern and that is none of the national government's business in the first place to worry about, let alone tolerate. Self-government and freedom of conscience are ideas fit for a free society. Tolerance is an idea that is fit for a society with a king. In America, we do not have a king and are free to worship as we choose without the government having any say about it at all. Americans today should not take religious freedom for granted. Our founders knew that one day somebody might try to come along one day and take our religious freedoms away, and we should always be cautious to defend our religious freedom against potential government intrusion.
